Python Interview Revision
A focused revision route with diagnosis, coding practice, and a mock interview.
Diagnose before you revise
Attempt MCQ practice without notes. For every mistake, write down the concept, your original reasoning, and a small example that demonstrates the right behavior.
A focused revision sequence
| Session | Review | Evidence you understand it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Collections, mutability, and copying | Explain a list versus a set versus a dictionary, with lookup tradeoffs. |
| 2 | Functions, scope, and exceptions | Write a filter function; handle invalid data without hiding errors. |
| 3 | File processing lab | Produce the expected output and test a missing file. |
| 4 | Production scripting bridge | Explain dependencies, CLI flags, tests, timeouts, and exit codes. |
| 5 | Production scenarios | State a hypothesis, collect evidence, propose a fix, and describe a regression test. |
| 6 | Interview questions | Answer aloud before reading the explanation. |
Use as many sessions as needed. If a concept is unfamiliar, return to the beginner route rather than memorizing answers.
Run a mock interview
Spend 10 minutes explaining two concepts, 20 minutes coding a CSV filter, and 10 minutes discussing a failing AWS inventory job. Ask yourself:
- Did I clarify the input, output, and edge cases?
- Could I explain time and memory costs?
- Did I test both a successful case and a failure?
- Could I distinguish a retryable failure from a permanent one?
Finish by explaining your capstone without reading its source. Record one improvement to make before the next rehearsal.
